The world has changed a lot in these pandemic times.


I was surfing the net and found that there are 7 known wonders in this world and one of those is "Taj Mahal."


Today I will tell you about one of the wonders of the world. 


Yes, you heard it right, today I will talk about Taj Mahal.




Today I will tell you about the Taj Mahal, why it was made, and facts about it. 


Taj Mahal is made up of is an ivory-white marble. It was made in the year 1632 by the Mughal Ruler "Shah Jahan".


Why it was made?


Taj Mahal, also known as Tadj Mahall is a museum in Agra which is a state in Uttar Pradesh in Northern India. The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631. 




Why it was made?


It was made for "SHAH JAHAN's" wife "Mumtaz Mahal". It took 20 years to build and approximately 20,000 workers to complete it. The building of the Taj Mahal took around 32 million rupees which in 2020 is around 70 billion rupees or the U.S. $916 million. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. The Taj Mahal is considered to be the greatest architectural achievement in the whole range of Indo-Islamic architecture. 




Facts about Taj Mahal


1. Emperor Shah Jahan intended to build another Taj Mahal in black marble across the river but a war with his sons interrupted these plans.

2. Taj Mahal is a famous Indian landmark and tourist magnet, attracting more than a million tourists every year.

3. It took 1,000 elephants to build the Taj Mahal.

4. The Taj Mahal is greater that Qutub Minar with a difference of 5 feet. 

5. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, generally regarded as the chief architect of the Taj Mahal, was not Indian; he was a Persian from Iran.

6. Shah Jahan's other wives and even his favorite servant are buried in mausoleums just outside of the Taj Mahal.

7. The Taj Mahal's white marble is rapidly turning yellow because of terrible air pollution in Agra.

8. The Taj Mahal was declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, receiving more than 100 million votes.

9. The Taj Mahal has a hole in the ceiling of the main hall.

10. The Taj Mahal can change its colors.
