One of the most famous Hindu festivals is Janmashtami.
Today I will tell you something about Janmashtami also known as Krishnashtami, SaatamAatham, and Gokulashtami.
It is celebrated on Tuesday, 11 August, and Wednesday, 12 August in the year 2020. It is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. The date of the festival changes according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar. The festival is celebrated by Hindus all over the world and many devotees fast on this day and offer prays to God.
This day signifies the victory of good over evil. People go to the nearest temple, enact plays and sing songs to celebrate the festival. Dahi Handi (a pot of curd) is one more form to celebrate Janmashtami. Dahi Handi is mostly celebrated in the states of Gujrat and Maharashtra. A group of young boys form the shape of a pyramid and try to break the pot placed 30 meters above the ground.
Dahi Handi represents Lord Krishna's childhood when he used to steal dairy products like butter, ghee, and curd. Lord Krishna was also known as Makhan Chor in his childhood. It is also believed that the women's living nearby Lord Krishna hung butter, ghee, and curd in pots at hight so that Krishna could not reach there easily.
However, the child Krishna and his friends, form a human pyramid to break the pot of butter, ghee, and curd hung above the ground.

1. Lord Krishna has 108 names.
2. Krishna was cursed by Queen Gandhari, which led to his death and the destruction of his dynasty.
3. Krishna's death was the result of a number of curses and his own act of adharma against Vali.
4. Shri Krishna was born as the eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva in Rohini Nakshatra.
5. He is so powerful that he even brought the dead son of his Guru Sandipani as a way of paying Gurudakshina to Sandipani.
